Knowing many alumnae at Mount de Sales, when you ask them what is the most memorable thing I always hear, the chapel. The beautiful chandelier and stained glass windows brighten up the day when you walk through the chapel. Asking alumnae what they love about the chapel I received many different responses. Caroline Arnold class of 2011 said ” It’s aged spirit captures the heart and mind of a true Mount de Sales girl.” Caroline explained more and said going to Mount de Sales changed her spiritual life with God. She also said that a memorable thing is the kneelers, and how painful they were. Another alumnae from the class of 2011, Rachael Kvech said the most memorable thing about the chapel was “Attending Adoration because it was a calming and quiet atmosphere that allowed you to really focus on your connection with God.” The side chapel is just as peaceful and quiet as the main chapel. It may not have a beautiful chandelier but it does have a beautiful cross and a view to the side of the alter, which is just as beautiful as the front of the alter.
Maura Cunningham and Rachael Kvech were discussing the chapel and they both agreed that being able to walk through the chapel everyday was the best part. They felt the Spirit of God with them at all times. Maura says ” They always used to say the center of the building is the chapel, just like Jesus is the center of our hearts.” Then on a separate day conferencing with Maureen Cashen class of 2012 she said ” It’s nice to have the chapel in the center of the school since our education is centered in faith.” During mass you feel as if you are in God presence the entire time. To make the chapel even prettier during mass you can hear the voices of the choir from the choir loft, and it sounds like angels. Even though in the pews everyone is squished together it brings the Mount de Sales sisterhood all together into the presence of God.
