In 2013, two seniors Katie Sauter and Eve Lukowski started the Pink Out game in memory of Katie’s mother who had breast cancer, and for all the people who have been affected by cancer. All of the money raised goes to St. Agnes breast cancer center.
The Pink Out game is held at the end of January, which is usually one of the girls last home games of the season. “I think the game went really well this year, and I’m excited to see how it goes next year”, said senior basketball player Abby Zalucki. Abby took charge of the Pink Out game this year, and put in a lot of hard work to make this year’s Pink Out a success. All of the basketball players, JV and Varsity did a lot of work advertising, and making posters to get the word out about the game.
Abby said, “There was a lot of meetings with Mrs. Lanciotti and the athletic administration” to get everything organized so that the fundraiser could run smoothly. The game was a huge success, and raised more money than before in the previous years. Both JV and Varsity had the stands packed with fans.
The game was held on January 30th with a gym filled with pink. The basketball players made a bunch of baked goods to sell at the game to help raise money. Thanks to the St. Agnes breast cancer center there was plenty of gifts to hand out to the fans that came to support. The basketball teams hopes to keep the tradition going in the future, raising even more money each year.
