Sailors Run for Mrs.Harris

“RUN with your legs to be fast. RUN with your mind to be faster. RUN with your heart to be unstoppable” ( Writer- Aalaynah Thompson).

The Mount de Sales Cross Country team ran from their hearts in memory of the beloved Mrs. Cookie Harris. The sailors ran at the Seahawk Invitational Cross Country meet on Saturday, September 6. In honor of the decease of Mrs. Harris, the team wrote the letters CH (Cookie Harris) on their arms and wore black ribbons in their hair. Jess Harris, who graduated last year and now runs for the University of Notre Dame, was a crucial member of the team and so they also raised money to send to the family as well.

The team was strongly encouraged to drink lots of water the night before because the weather was going to be extremely humid and hot. It almost hit 100 degrees. After the first two girl races (JV and Varsity), the meet was cancelled due to the intense heat. The sailors were scheduled to run before the meet was cancelled and worked through the heat and prevailed! The varsity team came in first place and JV came in third place out of 25 other teams. Mrs. Harris was truly watching over the sailors as they persevered and ran their hearts out!
