Mount de Sales Sailors win Centennial Tournament.
Out of all the varsity high school field hockey teams in the Baltimore- Metro Area, for the first time, the Mount de Sales Sailors have clenched the 9th rank.
“This team is very unique, with the dynamics of the captains and team; they consistently remain very positive and happy” said Coach Mary Gentner.
On Wednesday September 4th the Sailors field hockey team was ranked in the top 15 schools in the Baltimore- Metro Area by the Baltimore Sun. This ranking was based off their last year’s overall record of 15-4 and this year’s preseason. The Mount de Sales Sailors continue to win against top rivals including Catonsville High School and Marriotts Ridge High School. They also won the Centennial High School Tournament on September 7th. Recently the Sailors defeated Maryvale in a tough and physical game. The Sailors record rises to 6-0. The Sailors played South River, the number one ranked team by the Baltimore Sun, won 2-1. Although this game will be difficult the Sailors hope to win.
“I believe that we are a very skilled and talented team. We always have high intensity and heart. I believe we can win our conference championships and maintain our undefeated record” said senior captain Amanda Ignacio.
