In Ms. Wills class, we are learning about parent functions and transformations. To make it fun, we translated the“Cha Cha Slide” into a function and formed a human parabola.
Right before the unit test on functions and transformations, Ms. Wills organized her pre-calc students to perform the “Cha Cha Slide” in respect to parent functions. Parent functions are sets of basic functions used as building blocks for more complex functions. She split her classes in two groups and gave each person a specific job; either a sign writer, sign holder, translator, or a part in the parabola. To start off the song, students arranged themselves into the quadratic parent function f(x)=x^2.
