“Changing the World –One Pair at a Time”

The cross country team held a shoe drive on homecoming day to help the organization Soles4Souls.

“Collecting shoes was a good way for the team to work together to help the community.  We run and collecting shoes fits with our team,” said senior Colleen Miller who was in charge of organizing the shoe drive.

Soles4Souls is an organization that collects shoes from companies and individuals to give to people in need.  They have collected over 19 million pairs of shoes; these shoes have been distributed to people in over 125 countries, including Kenya, Thailand, Nepal and the United States.  The team wanted to help the organization at homecoming rather than collecting money for their team.  They collected about thirty pairs of shoes on homecoming day, but they are also collecting more shoes at Fall Fest.  Senior Colleen Miller is hoping that the girls help Soles4Souls by donating their old bucks since we are now allowed to wear Sperrys.

“You need shoes to run, so I think that collecting shoes for the needy was a great opportunity for the team to help those who are not as fortunate as we are,” said senior Marge Furletti.
