Students Create Brains

Mrs. Verch, the new AP Psychology teacher, assigned her students a project to recreate the brain out of any material they wanted.

“I thought that this project would be a fun and effective study tool for my students to memorize the structures of the brain,” said Mrs. Verch, who was previously a third grade teacher.

Students made their projects out of a variety of materials. Some made them out of clay, Styrofoam and poster board. Grace Davis sewed her brain and Colleen Ogden made her brain into a snow globe. Senior Claire Halligan made her brain out of cake and other edible materials.

“I was glad that we got to choose whichever kind of material we wanted. I made a cake. This project really helped me to learn the structures of the brain while still having fun,” said senior Claire Halligan.
