Race for Carol

Eighteen juniors, seniors, and alumnae from Mount de Sales participated in the Race for the Cure, Maryland in memory of Carol Sauter. Mrs. Carol is mom to Katie and Megan Sauter and passed away on April 6, 2012 after a 20 year battle with breast cancer. Team Carol raised a total of $1,920 with a team of 36 members. “It was great to see so many people support Mrs. Carol” said senior Emma Callahan.

Almost 30,000 people gathered on the morning of October 21st in Hunt Valley, Maryland for the Race. It was a great morning with much energy from all of the participants. The Race for the Cure, Maryland raised a total of $1,606,577 to fund cancer research.  There were three events: 5K timed run, 5K walk, and the one mile kids walk.
 “It was beautiful seeing all of the girls come together to support the Sauter family, we could truly feel Mrs. Carol was there walking along side us” said senior, Kenzie Herlihy.

Mrs. Carol touched many people around her and this was a great opportunity to give back and honor her. She was a great mom to Katie and Megan and her legacy will last forever.

“We hope we made Mrs. Carol proud; I’m so happy my friends and I could do this together. It was a great experience” said senior Katie Keane.
