Mrs. Carol Sauter was not only a mother to Megan and Katie, she was also mother to all of their friends. After 20 years battling breast cancer, the Lord welcomed Carol Ann Sauter home on April 6, 2012. Mrs. Carol was a cherished woman in the St. Mark community along with her husband Michael Sauter and her sons Eric and Danny Sauter. Her mom Anna O’Brien and sister Jane were great supporters throughout her battle. After her passing, Katie and Megan donated 10 inches of their hair to Locks of Love. Doing this shows respect for their mom, and women who have breast cancer.
“I was planning on cutting my hair around this time when my mom was going to lose her hair during treatment but I never had the chance to,” said senior Katie Sauter.
Katie’s younger sister followed in her footsteps cutting her hair two days later. “Even though I am sad my hair was cut short, I know there are women who will appreciate my hair, and I know it will grow back eventually,” said junior Megan Sauter.
The love and support from different communities and families for the Sauter family continues to grow. In remembrance of Mrs. Carol, there is going to be a memorial golf tournament in Ellicott City on September 28, 2012. The tournament is going to be held at Timbers of Troy Golf Course starting at 8:30 in the morning.
