On Monday, several Mount de Sales girls and OLPH teens began the Baltimore Ongoing Outreach Mission trip volunteering at My Brother’s Keeper in Baltimore City. My Brother’s Keeper provides men with job opportunities, health care, and other amenities in addition to meals. This organization, located in SW Baltimore, operates solely on private donations. The volunteers began the day cleaning the facilities and preparing the dining area before opening time. They served the men their meals, and cleared and cleaned the dishes. After the meal, they helped restock the pantry with donated foods. Maddie Nilan, a rising Mount de Sales sophomore, comments, “Serving these people was a new experience that gave me a new outlook on life’s blessings and the dignity of the human person.” Overall, this experience was a great way to put our faith into action and start our week of service!
